About me
Learn more about me
Hi there! I'm Mia, a craft-loving, 10-year-old girl from Limerick, Ireland. I started my life in sunny Australia, but now I'm embracing the Irish rain and everything else this green island has to offer. I attend a brilliant Irish language school, which is a bit unusual since most people here speak English, but I love it and have great friends there! After school, I'm all about activities – I play Camogie with my local club, practise my ballet moves, and even play chess. It's a busy life, but I wouldn't have it any other way.At home, I'm the middle child, sandwiched between my older brother Adam and my little brother Ollie. They're great, but they can be extremely annoying sometimes! But that's just part of the fun, right? My friend Evie taught me how to crochet, and now I'm absolutely mad about it! She's brilliant at it and showed me all the basics. Thanks to her, I've got into a type of crafting that I never knew I'd love so much. So, that's a little bit about me. Now, I'd love for you to check out the crafts I've poured my heart into. Head over to CraftyCailin.com and see if something catches your fancy!
My Crafts
Learn about my crafts
Crafting is my superpower! Ever since preschool, I've been diving into the world of arts and crafts. My awesome teachers, who used to guide me through fun projects back then, now run an art class I absolutely adore. Every week, we get our hands messy with painting, shape cool figures out of clay, create funky prints, and even try our hand at still life.My love for crafts isn't a secret – my friends and family shower me with art supplies for Christmas and birthdays. I'm always buzzing when I open those presents! I've been making necklaces and bracelets out of beads, loom bands, and yep, even dry pasta shapes since I can remember. My mum says I've got quite the collection building up in my room! And guess what? I've recently picked up crocheting, thanks to Evie showing me the ropes. Now, I'm all about creating the cutest bracelets and hairbands with the fluffiest, most colourful wool you can imagine. I love experimenting with different stitches and seeing what patterns I can come up with. So, that's a peek into my crafty world. I hope you enjoy exploring my creations as much as I enjoy making them!
Wristbands
Choose a beautiful wristband
Super special wristbands from real wool that are snuggly and colourful! 🌈 Each one is made by me with lots of care after school. They're 50cm long and go around your wrist three or more times depending on the size of your wrist for extra coziness. The wool is so soft and feels lovely against your skin! 💖 You can choose from lovely colours like gentle green, cosy pink, cheeky gold, and even boring grey (which isn't really boring at all!). I love how each colour has its own personality. They're perfect for making your wrists look cool and feel warm, and they make brilliant little gifts for friends too!
The History Bit...
All about Crochet
Crochet is super cool 'cause you can make all sorts of things with just yarn and a little hook. It’s like a magic wand for making clothes and stuff! The name “crochet” is actually a fancy French word that means “little hook”. People have been crocheting for a really long time, and it got really popular in the olden days, like a hundred years ago or more!
Did you know that crochet used to be called “crochet in the air”? It’s because when you crochet, it looks like you’re drawing pictures in the air with the yarn. The first time people wrote down how to make crochet stuff was for making little bags, and that was way back in 1823. That’s like, forever ago!
And here in Ireland, crochet is extra special. A long time ago, when times were tough, people made really pretty crochet lace. It was so pretty that even a queen wore it! Crochet helped families make money when they needed it. So, crochet isn’t just fun, it’s also about helping each other and keeping our cool skills alive from way back then to now!
